What's Been Going On
Well things are definatley going on here in Manaus. These past few weeks have been very busy. I have been finishing up a course in Portuguese. Also we recently recieved a visit from our Regional Director for South America, Rev. Daniel Scott. We very much enjoyed his visit. We visited many spots around Manuas, so that he could have a good experience of the Amazon. On the 21st of May, we all flew to a city called Coari. It was about a 2 hour flight. While there we had an amazing service. Bro. Scott preached about "What an ordinary man can do". When he finished the alters filled and God moved mightly. People recieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost and some amazing things happened in that alter service that I will never forget.
Bro. DeMerchant and I also took a trip into the interior last Sunday for a service. Again God blessed the service and His spirit moved. But it was quite a trip to get to the church. We traveled about 20 minutes by boat after we touched down in the Sheaves For Christ floatplane, but the problem was afterchurch on the trip home. When we started back to the pastors home, we noticed that a large patch of floating grass had blown in. It caused quite a delay, but we eventually got throught it.

Our Trip to Boa Vista
We have just reciently returned from a trip to Norhtern Brazil. We went to visit a small city called Boa Vista, a city of about 200,000 people. They have a highway that connects Manaus and Boa Vista, so we decided that we might drive, instead of flying. Little did we know that the road that cuts through deep jungle would be as bad as it was in some places. It is about a 11 hour drive, so the first night we stayed in a little hotel about 2 hours out of Manaus, (See Picture in Updated Photo Page) but we got little sleep, the howler monkeys and dogs kept us up all night with their screaming and barking. We arose early the next morning and drove through a huge Indian Reserve. Hundreds of people have been killed in the past trying to work with this group of indians...many Bro. DeMerchant dropped off with his plane.
After leaving the reserve we crossed the equator and kept on to Boa Vista. Upon arriving in we found out that they did not have church that night, but rather Bible School. Happy to us come for a visit, they turned the school over to us and Bro. DeMerchant and I each taught 2 classes to the group of 20 students. They seemed to really enjoy the classes and wanted us to stay for a couple more days, but we had to get back to Manaus. We got a better nights sleep on Thursday night, although the hotel was not much better. We arose early the next morning for the trip back to Manaus. We stopped many times on the way home to visit churches and see some of the sights.
**** On the Photos Page, I have included some pictures from our trip to Boa Viast in the update. ****
